Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be a resident of Alberta.

To be eligible for the Advancing Futures bursary, applicants must have:

Had a Permanent Guardianship Order (PGO) between the time they were 13 and 18 years old

OR

Have been in the care or custody of Alberta Children and Youth Services for at least 546 days (18 months) between the time they were 13 and 22 years old.

Below is a list of Intervention Services that may be included in the calculation of 546 days in the care or custody of Alberta Children and Youth Services:

  • Apprehension Order
  • Custody Agreement with Guardian
  • Custody Agreement with Youth
  • Custody Order
  • Emergency Apprehension
  • Enhancement Agreement with Youth
  • Interim Custody Order
  • Order to Extend Custody/T.G.O to three years
  • Support and Financial Assistance Agreement
  • Temporary Guardianship Order
  • Permanent Guardianship Order

Applicants must be between 18 and 22 years old at the time they apply to Advancing Futures.
