Criteria

Criteria for Community Partnerships Youth Grants:

• The grant application is for a program or project that meets one or more of the core objectives:

— support and develop skills in youth who are or have been in the care of Human Services (and require transitional support);
— provide resiliency-building opportunities in high-risk youth populations, such as homeless, addicted, at-risk of sexual exploitation and other vulnerable youth populations;
— provide positive mentoring opportunities for youth at risk in Alberta; and
— collaborate with other youth-serving organizations to provide wraparound services and supports to youth at risk.

• Organizations applying for a grant must be in existence for at least one year, be registered with Corporate Registries and demonstrate providing quality programs in their community.

• The project is community-based, involves at least one additional community partner and addresses a demonstrated need within the community.

• The objectives and strategies outlined in the Schedule A (Grant Project Plan) are attainable, clearly stated and measurable.

• The evaluation strategy is clearly stated and relevant.

• The Schedule B (Financial Report) is complete and accurate, reflecting one year of requested funding.

• Funding reflects program funding only, the requested funding cannot include funding for ongoing or operational costs, major capital costs, purchase of personal items, or debt reduction.

• Project activities and deliverables/targets can be completed within the one year timeframe and delivered within budget.

• The project must fit within the mandate of Alberta Human Services.

Approved grant funding must only be used for the purposes approved by the Minister, based on the Schedule B.  Grant funds not used for the purposes for which they were provided within the approved timeframe must be returned to the Ministry.

Grant recipients will be required to submit final reports summarizing the project and may be required to provide an audited financial statement upon completion of the grant.  The Minister may request that an evaluation or audit of the project be conducted.

Grant recipients must ensure that all personnel involved with the program or project are suitably qualified to provide the services.

Regarding any communication to the public about the program or project, the grant recipient must acknowledge the contribution by Alberta Human Services.  Consult the Ministry Communications Branch 780-427-4801 prior to any communication activities.

Based on available funding and an anticipated large volume of applications, not all applications meeting the established criteria may be funded and some applicants may not receive the full grant amount requested.
