Triple P – Positive Parenting Program Symposium — December 8, 2009

The Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research invites you and your staff to participate in a full-day symposium, featuring Dr. Matt Sanders, founder of the world renowned Triple P - Positive Parenting Program and Dr. Ron Prinz, Professor at the University of South Carolina.

The symposium will take place in Edmonton and will be webcast to all parts of the province, via the internet.  There is no charge for registration.

Drs. Sanders and Prinz will present findings of a large-scale study of the effectiveness of Triple P.  Triple P, an evidence-based system of parent training and support, was shown in this study to have a significant preventive impact on child maltreatment.

Triple P will soon be available to parents through local Parent Link Centres across the province.  I'm sure you won't want to miss this opportunity to learn more about Triple P and understand how it can make a significant difference for families you work with.

Child Care Staff Certification

All staff working in licensed day care centres must have training in early childhood education (ECE) or equivalent.  The Child Care Staff Certification Office assesses and certifies child care staff working in licensed day care programs, pre-school programs and out-of-school care programs as well as people working in approved/contracted family day home agencies.

Accreditation Funding For Child Care Staff

Alberta Children and Youth Services supports high quality child care through funding for accredited child care programs and those working towards accreditation.

Alberta Child Care Professional Awards of Excellence

The Alberta Child Care Professional Awards of Excellence recognize child care professionals who create a quality care environment for children. Eligible recipients work in licensed day care, pre-school, out-of-school care or approved family day homes in Alberta's rural or urban communities. Parents, child care owners/operators, child care professionals and other interested Albertans are encouraged to nominate an outstanding child care professional in their community. Nominees are assessed on their level of innovation and creativity in working with children.
