Our Boards
CFSA boards play an important role in reflecting the views of the communities within their region. The primary purpose for the Board Resources and Development Unit is to assist the CFSA boards in carrying out their responsibilities by providing support to the boards, to the Assembly of Co-Chairs and its committees, and to individual board members.
How the ministry supports the boards
- In collaboration with the CFSA boards, we develop and provide a variety of learning strategies that focus on best practices in board governance and enhancing the knowledge and experience of board members and Co-Chairs.
- We manage all activities related to board membership. This includes recruitment to fill vacancies, reappointment of board members, and succession planning.
- When requested to by a CFSA board, we provide consulting and facilitating support. This includes the direct provision of department know-how and referrals to expertise available among external consultants and organizations.
- We work with the CFSA boards to develop documents designed to assist the boards in carrying out their day-to-day responsibilities, such as the Memorandum of Understanding and Core Governance Policies. As well, we provide governance advice to boards on an as needed basis.
