Child Care

Subsidy Eligibility

Effective April 1, 2012, the income threshold for child care subsidy increased from $35,100 to $50,000. This means Alberta families, making a combined household income of $50,000 or less will be eligible to receive the maximum subsidy rate, to help offset the cost of using a licensed or approved child care program. See news release.

Families that were already receiving partial subsidy were automatically re-assessed on April 1; and the results of their assessment will be sent back to them by mail by April 15. There is no need for these families to re-apply for subsidy.

New families wondering about their eligibility for child care subsidy are welcome to use the Online Estimator Tool .
