Orientation Course for Child Care Staff

The Child Care Orientation Course is for people without any formal training in early learning and child care who are working in a licensed child care program, contracted family day home agency or are attending high school. This non-credit course, which takes 58 hours to complete, meets the Level 1 certification training requirements under the Child Care Licensing Regulation as a Child Development Assistant. Developed by Alberta Children and Youth Services in partnership with early childhood professionals and educational institutions in Alberta, the course is funded by the provincial government and offered at no cost to the student.

Registration Requirements: 

Students must be Canadian Citizens or hold a valid Canadian Permanent Resident card. Students must live in Alberta to take the online course. Course registration is only available to students who are currently working in an Alberta licensed child care program, contracted family day home agency or attending high school.
