If you're being abused, the most important thing to know is that you are not alone. You don't deserve to be abused. Family violence is a serious issue and some forms are criminal. There are things you can do to protect yourself and help others who are affected by family violence.  If you suspect someone that is experiencing family violence, please call the Family Violence Info Line at 310-1818 to find out how you can help. This 24 hour number is toll-free and available 7 days a week.

 

Specialized Services

 Specialized services are available for Aboriginal people dealing with family violence:

  • Native Counselling Services of Alberta offers many programs and services to help Aboriginal families.

  • Native Friendship Centres can help you connect to programs or services for people who have been abused or who abuse others.

  • You can also talk to an Elder in your community, a community health nurse, caseworker or other trusted adult,

  • Call the police, RCMP or tribal police for help.
