Project 1: Community Working Groups For FAS
- Under the regional committee working groups within each major regional community will be developed to enable communities and professionals to better understand and build capacity to deal with individuals with FASD.
Project 2: Resource Acquisition
- Establish a materials collection managed by the working groups in each community and to maintain the resource library already established by the Regional Committee.
Project 3: Education/Training for Professionals and Paraprofessionals

- Provides support and parent mentoring to parents and caregivers of FAS children in Region 5 through toll-free phone support line, workshops, parent mentor groups and personal contact.

Coaching Families FASD Family Intervention (Catholic Social Services)
- In-home support services for families living with children affected by FASD. Assessment and case consultation for other service providers working with families affected by FASD. Includes the the Stony Plain & Spruce Grove area. An FASD trainer identifies, develops, and coordinates training within the region and community. For more information, please call (780) 477-1999.
First Steps (Catholic Social Services)
- Intensive home visiting, support and advocacy to women at risk of having children with FASD. Building self-advocacy skills and provide mutual support networks and identify service barriers. Step By Step FASD Family Intervention Program (Catholic Social Services)
- Intensive home visiting, support and advocacy to women who themselves have FASD and are parenting children. Reducing the risk of breakdown within parent/child relationships, break the cycle of isolation, link up with community agencies, develop and maintain basic living / parenting skills. Well Community - Well Families (United Way of Capital Health Region)
- WCWF is a community program aimed at strengthening the capacity of women and men to lead healthy, positive lifestyles. Through the provision of intensive long-term support and advocacy, women at risk of having a child with FASD, and adults affected by FASD, are supported to overcome barriers affecting their ability to live successfully in the community. Lakeland Clinic for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Lac La Biche, St. Paul)
- Family Support follow-up, after a child has been diagnosed by the Diagnostic and Assessment team. The support includes personal face-to-face contact, home visits and phone contact to provide information about the diagnosis, to assist with following the diagnostic team's recommendations and to provide advocacy for the family. The support is also extended to the family's own support system including extended family, schools, doctors, therapists and social workers. Contact: Audrey Mcfarland

Diagnostic and Assessment Team (Cold Lake, Bonnyville, Lac La Biche, St. Paul)
- This is a multi-disciplinary team that holds mobile diagnostic and assessment clinics two times per month. Two children and their families are seen on each clinic day. Authority Services staff participate as part of the diagnostic team. Contact: Audrey McFarland (780) 594-9905.
Diagnostic and Assessment Team (Hinton, Edson and Jasper)
- Mentoring Case Management. Aims to support youth and young adults (12-25) affected with FASD to acquire essential supports that will enable them to build and maintain healthy lives including linking them to government, community and professional supports. Contact: Rav Bains (780) 723-8237.

FASS (Fetal Alcohol Support Society)
- Their mission is to advocate for those who have fetal alcohol exposure regarless of age. FASS strives towards their mission by hosting caregiver support meetings, sponsoring International FASDAY activities, distributing FASD literature, delivering FASD presentations and advocating for persons with FASD.
Grande Prairie Family Education Society
- Dissemination of information to the FASD Diagnostic Team on children, who have been referred as potentially having FASD, provides a developmental assessment on the child and provides referrals and links to services to families whose child has been diagnosed as having FASD. Provides public education on FASD, and training for community members who work with FASD children. (Grande Prairie & area) Contact: Heather King

The FASD Program (Peace River, Grimshaw, Fairview, Spirit River, Manning, Nampa and areas)
- Hosted by the Accredited Supported Living Society (ASLS), this program offers a resource library, referral services (assistance in identifying resources and support), diagnostic services (a multi-disciplinary team for children aged zero to 18 years), and education in the form of presentations, displays and media campaigns. The program consists of an advisory committee, the Peace Region FASD Commitee, made up of community members and agency representatives. Home Visitation Project

FASD Group Home
- A new group home that just recently opened specifically for FASD youth who were placed out of region. The group home is a three-bed home that is for teenagers who will be transitioning to adult hood/PDD services. Contact: Anne Lastiwka
