Alberta Mentoring Partnership

The Alberta Mentoring Partnership (AMP) brings together 29 partners in the first association of its kind in Canada.

A new AMP awareness campaign encourages Albertans to volunteer as mentors in their communities.

Having constructive role models helps children and youth make good choices, which leads to stronger and safer communities. Mentoring programs help families provide a solid base for their children’s healthy development.

This innovative partnership between the Alberta government, community agencies, and youth will give Alberta’s young people new opportunities to benefit from positive role models.

The partnership is part of Alberta’s commitment to safe communities. Positive role models help youth develop confidence, self-esteem and social skills. They are less likely to get involved with drugs and crime, and more likely to stay in school.

The partnership will use $3.7 million in Alberta government funding to increase mentoring opportunities through an awareness and recruitment campaign; improved training and resources for mentors; reduced barriers for volunteers to become mentors; and mentoring programs targeting children and youth at risk.
